My favorite book is… Mon livre favori est…

Munkassa kuukauden päivät viettäneet ranskalaiset vaihto-oppilaat Khanh Tran ja Maïa Marchandé-Lima kirjoittivat viimeisenä Suomen koulupäivänään ranskan opettaja Erja-Riitta Riihimäen kanssa kirjaesittelyt lempikirjastaan, jonka ovat lukeneet englanniksi. Thank you for your visit! Merci!

My favorite book is perhaps an English book written by Malorie Blackman called Noughts & crosses. It’s a book for teenagers that tells a tragic love story between two opposite people. In this world, there is a lot of racism: all blacks are rich and powerful, and all whites are poor and dominated: Sephy Hadley, who is the daughter of a rich, black, and powerful ministry falls in love with Callum McGregore, who is the son of sephy former nanny, who is poor and white. Their love is simply impossible.

I really like this book because it taught me a lot about the mentality of people, and I also learned a lot about myself. Plus, it’s a saga with seven books, so if you like it you can read a lot. The story is very interesting and the characters too. I think I particularly like this type of book that allows you to think about issues like racism or death sentence. And the author’s way of describing the story is cool: she uses the first person for the two main characters: Sephy and Callum. Like this, one can easily understand their thinking and feeling.

Finally, I think Noughts & Crosses is an original and very cool book, and I really recommend you read it.

I haven’t read a lot of books in my life but I would say that my favorite one is Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza. It’s a book that talks about many topics related to psychology with some scientific facts and data. The author tell about trauma recovery, self-development, human brain and how to control your mind. The point of this book is to help the readers to deal with their problems, traumas and daily-life difficulties, as Dr. Dispenza helped people who visited his workshops. Their situation are tolt in the book and I find that interesting because it can help readers to identify their situations or themselves, and see that they actually can get out of their problems, or just as informations for readers.

This book also allows to develop a different point of view towards various situations, by recognizing any element that could be a solution to the problem. It helped me in some ways to develop my thinking ability, discover some new English vocabulary and psychology lessons. I would rather read this kind of book than for example a fantasy book because I consider that it is more useful in life, it teachs me something which is actually useful. It’s kind of a difficult book as a non fluent English speaker but reading it was a great experience. I totally recommend it if you like self-development or medical domain (especially brain).
